Myanmar and Thailand hold the 37th regional border committee meeting in Chiang Mai

Military chiefs from Myanmar and Thailand met for serious border talks at a fancy resort. The 37th Regional Border Committee Meeting happened at Green Lake Resort near Chiang Mai. Lt-Gen Nyunt Win Swe brought his Myanmar team to hammer out deals with Thai officers. Lt-Gen Kittipong Jamsuwan welcomed the visiting group for two days of negotiations. Both sides shook hands and smiled for cameras before getting down to business.

The generals tackled tough topics like stopping drug smuggling and marking exact border lines. They talked about building trust between their armies and working together on security issues. Thai hosts threw a dinner party complete with traditional dancing and music performances. Everyone exchanged fancy gifts and posed for more photos during the evening celebration. The meeting wrapped up successfully after both leaders signed official agreements.

Myanmar officers flew to Bangkok for more meetings with top Thai military brass. They chatted with General Thongchai Rodyoi and Gen Pongtep Gaewchaiyo about different cooperation projects. Thai officials thanked Myanmar for their partnership after the March earthquake disaster struck Mandalay. The generals discussed future military training programs and shared intelligence operations. Both countries promised to keep working together on border security matters.

The Myanmar delegation enjoyed some tourist time during their Thailand visit. They checked out the beautiful Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden and explored Central Festival shopping mall. The group also visited Wat Pa Dara Phirom temple for cultural experience. Everyone seemed happy with the productive border committee meeting results.
