Myanmar strengthens anti-trafficking ties at Mekong summit

Myanmar's home affairs leader, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, headed a diplomatic contingent to Hanoi for regional discussions on combating forced labor exploitation and cross-border criminal networks. The visit centered on the sixth gathering of Mekong basin nations working under the COMMIT framework to address trafficking operations that increasingly exploit digital platforms for recruitment and transport logistics.

Bilateral talks with Vietnamese and Chinese security officials addressed joint enforcement mechanisms, with particular emphasis on dismantling internet-based fraud rings and stabilizing frontier zones. Participants endorsed a decade-long action blueprint extending through 2035 while examining victim protection protocols and intelligence-sharing arrangements among participating governments.
