Naaz pushes teachers to prep for school athletics season

Zimbabwe wants gym teachers to actually learn coaching skills before ruining the track season. National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe administrator Manuel Mpofu demanded educators sign up for professional training ahead of the upcoming school schedule. These certification programs fall under World Athletics frameworks and target primary or secondary instructors.

Events for obtaining Level One certificates will happen at the National Sports Stadium in Harare and White City Stadium in Bulawayo. These sessions cover both coaching education and technical officiating systems. Organizers scheduled these workshops to run late this month as preparation ramps up.

Mpofu insisted that skipping these lessons means missing out on vital investments for student development. He argues that building a solid base remains necessary for shaping the sport long-term since the first school term usually focuses heavily on track and field competitions.

The administrator claims the association cares more about education currently than winning medals immediately. He believes elite athletes fail to reach full potential without knowledgeable mentors guiding them. Sustainable success apparently depends on having well-trained adults rather than just raw talent alone.
