Nafisa Ali says she will resume chemotherapy as surgery is not possible

Actress Nafisa Ali announced her return to chemotherapy treatment after recent medical scans revealed surgery remains unfeasible for her cancer condition. The veteran performer shared her health update through social media on Tuesday, expressing determination despite facing continued challenges with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer diagnosed in 2018. Ali posted an inspirational message about family bonds while revealing her latest treatment plan.

The multifaceted entertainer achieved national recognition as swimming champion from 1972 through 1974 before claiming the Miss India title in 1976. Her acting career began with Shyam Benegal's 1979 production Junoon and expanded through notable films like Major Saab, Life In A Metro, and Guzaarish. Ali pursued political aspirations by contesting Lok Sabha elections in South Kolkata during 2004 and later representing Samajwadi Party in Lucknow before joining Trinamool Congress in 2021. Her most recent film appearance occurred in Sooraj Barjatya's 2022 release Uunchai alongside Amitabh Bachchan and other prominent actors.
