Nakamba Refuses To Bail As Luton Hits League One

Luton Town will keep Zimbabwe star Marvelous Nakamba next season as they head down to League One after back-to-back drops from the top leagues. The 30-year-old midfielder stays with one year left on his deal despite the team falling to the third tier of English football. Luton lost their final game 5-3 against West Bromwich, which sealed their fate when Hull City tied with Portsmouth. Nakamba missed that last match, which raised questions about his health. He faces playing in League One unless he moves to another club before his contract ends in 2026.

Academy player Matthew Takawira leaves the team as his youth deal expires. The 18-year-old joined Luton at age 14 but never broke through to regular play. He can play for either England or Zimbabwe at the international level. Several veterans also exit the club, with Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu ending his 11-year run at Luton. Other departures include Amari'i Bell, Tim Krul, Jameson Horlick, and Victor Moses.
