Namibia Tourism Boom to Add 23k Jobs

Namibia wants to reshape its tourism industry through a new master plan. The Environment and Tourism Ministry leads this effort toward Vision 2030 goals. Tourism jobs will jump from 57,000 to 80,000 workers. The plan spreads visitors across all 14 regions instead of crowding popular spots. Executive director Sikongo Haihambo guides the project forward.

Etosha National Park and Sossusvlei face heavy visitor pressure right away. The master plan finds new areas with tourism potential across the country. Zoning creates fresh business chances for investors and communities. The Zambezi region starts first before expanding to Kavango, Kunene and southern areas. Regional development follows a careful mapping process.

Local communities can build tourism products around their culture and environment. Namibians control unique cultural experiences that attract international visitors. Community conservancies play a major role with 42 active groups. More conservancies will form as the program grows. Communities participate directly rather than watching from the sidelines.

The plan enters final review before 2025 launch. Three-year rolling strategies work within a 10-year framework. Officials monitor job creation and regional development closely. The master plan guides tourism growth across Namibia systematically. Regional balance replaces the current concentration at famous destinations.
