Nassir takes health chair as babies keep dying

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir won the election as chairperson of the Council of Governors Committee on Health on Monday, and replaced Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki. Nassir credited his health sector staff for the achievement and pledged to position Mombasa as a model for healthcare delivery across Kenya. The governor stated his responsibility reflects recognition of medical professionals who serve residents with dedication and compassion.

Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga retained their positions as chair and vice chair of the Council of Governors. Kisii Governor Simba Arati transitioned from Resource Mobilisation Committee leadership to head the Security and Foreign Relations Committee. The executive committed to operationalizing the Devolution Training Institute and implementing the Strategic Plan through 2027 while finalizing devolved function transfers.
