NBSZ Worker Forgeries Land Him 630 Hours of Community Service

A young man named Trymore Jairos made fake signatures to borrow money from stores. He worked at the Blood Service in Zimbabwe, cleaning the laboratory. Because he did something wrong, he must serve 630 hours helping his community.

Jairos told the judge he copied his bosses' signatures four times. The judge, Mrs Banda, first wanted to send him to prison for two years. She changed her mind because Jairos said he was sorry. She asked him to work for free, helping people instead.

Last September, Jairos copied his boss, Mrs Zanani's signature on a paper. He wanted to borrow three thousand dollars from Edgars Club Plus store. He promised to pay back the money every month for one year, but he only paid once and stopped.

The store called Mrs Zanani on February 5, asking about the missing money. She looked at the papers and saw someone had copied her signature. People checked more papers and found that Jairos had copied another boss's signature. Mr Chikwereti did not know Jairos used his name to borrow money.

The judge understood Jairos felt bad about what he did. She wanted to help him become better. Instead of going to jail, he will work helping people in his community. This will give him a chance to show he can be trusted again.
