NDC's Alhaji Wahab arrested in Koforidua over threat video

Police authorities from the Eastern South Regional Command detained Alhaji Abdul Wahab, who serves as the Abuakwa North Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress. Officers apprehended him in Koforidua over a viral video that allegedly contained death threats against three prominent political leaders. The targets of these supposed threats were Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and Henry Nana Boakye from opposing political parties. Authorities released Wahab on bail after cautioning him about the serious nature of the allegations. He must appear at the Regional Police Headquarters in Kyebi on Monday to continue assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The arrest follows events that occurred during the September 2 Akwatia by-election campaign period. Reports indicate that individuals connected to Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin removed campaign posters belonging to the NDC from a vehicle near their constituency office. This action reportedly provoked Wahab, who subsequently made the threatening statements during a media appearance. Police officials have committed to conducting a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter. Regular updates will be provided to the public as the case develops.
