A political party called the National Development Party (NDP) wants to run in Malawi's big election this September. The party leader, Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo, told people at a meeting in Mzimba that his party will work alone and doesn't want help from other political parties.
Mwenifumbo said working with other parties didn't help the NDP before. He talked about something called the Tonse Alliance, where his party felt left out after helping others win. "We want to lead this country by ourselves," he told everyone.
He thinks the current president, Lazarus Chakwera, and his party haven't done a good job helping people. He pointed at many roads that weren't built in the Northern Region. "People trusted Chakwera's government, but they forgot about the North," Mwenifumbo said.
The NDP leader talked about problems in Mzimba. Many roads haven't been fixed, and a promised school called M'mbelwa University hasn't been built. He said this makes him sad because Mzimba has lots of valuable minerals in the ground but remains poor.
Mwenifumbo wants all minerals found in Malawi to stay in Malawi for making things. He believes this will make more money for the country. He made it clear that his party won't work with President Chakwera's group, which he calls a "failed government."
He reminded people that he used to help run the country's farms. "We grew enough food to help other countries like Zimbabwe and Namibia," he said proudly. His party wants to create more jobs, help young people, stop people from stealing money, and improve farming.
The NDP brings new ideas about how to improve Malawi. They promise to help everyone have the same chance to succeed. With this news, people know the NDP will try to win the election on its own.
