Nees Shocks Zimbabwe Fans With Fringe Squad Picks

Michael Nees picked his Warriors team for upcoming matches against Burkina Faso and Niger. The coach scheduled these friendly games for June 6 and June 10. Both matches will take place somewhere inside Morocco. Officials have not announced the exact stadium location. The team will travel to North Africa for these international contests.

Nees chose mostly backup players for this squad announcement. Star athletes like Andy Rinomhota and Marshall Munetsi will stay home to rest. Knowledge Musona and Tivonge Rushesha also missed selection for these games. Marvelous Nakamba returned from injury but did not make the final roster. Elvis Chipezeze and Jonah Fabisch earned spots after previous absences.

Sean Fusire received his first Warriors call-up at age 19. The Sheffield Wednesday player was born overseas to Zimbabwean parents. Tinotenda Kadewere and Bill Antonio recovered from injuries to join the squad. The complete roster features three goalkeepers and seven defenders. Eight midfielders and five forwards round out the 23-man selection.
