Nestlé spent 7 million dollars expanding its cereal factory in Harare to boost production capacity. The Swiss company added a fourth roller dryer machine that increases output levels over 35 percent. Local contractors and engineers from Zimbabwe completed the entire expansion project for the food manufacturer. The upgraded facility produces more CEREVITA cereal for domestic markets and regional exports. Countries like Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique receive shipments from the expanded Harare plant.
The food company has operated in Zimbabwe for more than 60 years and directly employs over 400 workers. Nestlé partners with 350 local suppliers and 18 small farmers across the country for raw materials. Government officials praised the investment as supporting Vision 2030 development goals and job creation efforts. The expansion helps position Zimbabwe as a manufacturing hub for Eastern and Southern Africa. Industry leaders recognized the plant as runner-up for Manufacturing Exporter of the Year 2025.
