Netflix scoops up Warner Bros Discovery, streaming just leveled up

Netflix dropped around 82 billion dollars to scoop up Warner Bros Discovery's entire production empire and streaming setup, which means HBO and HBO Max are getting folded into the platform. Ted Sarandos said the move lets them stack their catalog with classic Warner stuff like old Hollywood movies on top of what they already have. WBD shareholders are getting a mix of cash and Netflix stock per share.

The deal still needs regulators to sign off, and shareholders have to vote yes before anything closes over the next year or so. This basically makes Netflix even bigger compared to Disney+ and Prime Video in the streaming wars.
