Foreign Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi will attend Pope Francis's funeral instead of President Nandi-Ndaitwah. She will travel with Martin Andjaba, Namibia's ambassador to the Holy See. The funeral will be held on Saturday at the Vatican in Rome, Italy.
Namibia formed official ties with the Holy See back in 2007. Leaders from more than 40 countries will attend the service. Pope Francis died earlier this week on Monday, April 21, 2025.
