New ACK Nairobi Bishop-Elect Jonathan Kabiru Chosen

The Anglican Church of Kenya has a new bishop for its Nairobi diocese. Ven Canon Jonathan Kabiru won the election on Saturday. He will be the third bishop to lead this diocese.

A group of 23 people chose Kabiru. They came from different Anglican churches in Nairobi. This group is called the Electoral College.

The election was held at ACK St Stephen's Cathedral. It is located on Jogoo Road in Nairobi.

Kabiru won in the first round of voting. He ran against two other candidates. Their names are Ven Canon Joshua Omungo and Canon Dr Sammy Wainaina.

As the new bishop, Kabiru will succeed Bishop Joel Waweru. People hope Kabiru will be a good moral leader. They believe he has the integrity to help with challenges in Nairobi.

Before becoming bishop, Kabiru was an archdeacon in the Anglican Church. He was in charge of parishes and clergy and ensured the church's work matched its mission and values.

The Anglican Church of Kenya thanked God for the smooth election. They congratulated Kabiru on X, a social media site. They prayed for God to guide and bless him as he led the diocese.

Many Kenyans also congratulated Kabiru online. They asked God to help him in his new role.

The governor of Nairobi, Johnson Sakaja, wished Kabiru well. A journalist named John Kioria said Kabiru was always the right man for the job.

People are excited to see what Kabiru will do as the new bishop. They believe he will be a good leader for the Anglican Church in Nairobi.
