NIA nabs 22nd accused in Bishnoi-BKI terror plot

The National Investigation Agency filed charges against a 22nd suspect on Monday in its case against the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and Babbar Khalsa International terror network. Rahul Sarkar faces accusations of helping gang members escape India by creating fraudulent identity documents such as Aadhar cards and voter IDs. Investigators say Sarkar assisted members in obtaining fake passports to flee abroad and continue terrorist operations.

The agency has arrested 18 suspects in the case that began on Aug. 4, 2022, but four remain fugitives. Last week, the agency charged four people in a grenade attack at former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia's home on April 7. Authorities arrested Saidul Ameen from Amroha and Abhijot Jangra from Kurukshetra. Kulbir Singh Sidhu and Manish Rana remain at large after allegedly conspiring to form a terror gang linked to Babbar Khalsa International.
