Nigeria oil bid round to open December 1, 2025

Nigeria's upstream petroleum authority has scheduled its 2025 licensing round to open through a digital platform that will begin accepting applications in early December. Commission head Gbenga Komolafe announced that the selection process will feature separate technical and commercial evaluation stages, with automated systems providing immediate results to successful bidders without administrative delays.

Italian energy firm Ludoil signaled its intention to compete for exploration rights after company technical director Paolo Fedeli identified the West African nation as a priority expansion target during meetings at the regulatory headquarters in Abuja. Komolafe emphasized that the country's 37 billion barrel reserves and Atlantic coastline position make it attractive for investors seeking African market entry under reformed petroleum legislation.
