NNPP's Kwankwaso comes crawling back to the APC

All Progressives Congress official Joe Igbokwe claims New Nigerian Peoples Party presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has contacted the ruling party about rejoining. The APC leader stated that Kwankwaso and Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf might both switch parties before the 2027 elections. Igbokwe shared this information through his Facebook account, welcoming additional defections to strengthen the ruling party. Media outlets were unable to verify these claims through direct contact with Kwankwaso representatives.

Political observers noted growing speculation about Kwankwaso abandoning NNPP before the next presidential election cycle begins. The Vanguard newspaper reported that the former Kano governor publicly announced his readiness to join the APC, accompanied by his supporters. However, Kwankwaso issued warnings about preventing his political organization from being exploited during elections, and subsequently ignored them. The potential defection reflects broader challenges for the opposition party ahead of the 2027 electoral contests.
