No ZiG Cash Panic Says The Big Guys

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe officials promise citizens that enough ZiG currency exists for daily business needs. People outside Harare complained about limited access to the local money during recent months. Banks hold over 207 million ZiG dollars as cash reserves across the country. Total ZiG deposits reached 16 billion dollars during June 2025 measurements. RBZ Governor John Mushayavanhu says these amounts support regular transactions.

Local currency usage jumped from 26 percent to 43 percent between April 2024 and May 2025. The central bank distributes cash to financial institutions based on customer demand patterns. Some banks already offer ZiG money through ATM machines across urban areas. Other banking institutions prepare their machines to dispense the local currency soon. Electronic payments through the National Payment System increased significantly during the measurement period.

International Monetary Fund mission chief Wojciech Maliszewski called the ZiG stable during recent discussions. He wants the currency to become fully national through widespread adoption. Price discovery needs improvement through deeper foreign exchange markets. The parallel market rate moves closer to official exchange rates. Government measures aim to boost ZiG acceptance throughout Zimbabwe's economy.
