Noida airport set for October 30 launch, flights to start after Diwali

Aviation authorities plan to launch passenger services at Jewar's new airport facility following Diwali celebrations this year. The terminal will officially open on October 30, with carriers beginning operations within 45 days of the ceremony. Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced the timeline after construction teams completed initial infrastructure work. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath confirmed that airlines will start flying passengers before December ends. The project represents a significant milestone for regional transportation networks.

Engineers built the facility through a four-stage development process, with the first phase accommodating 12 million travelers annually. Contractors equipped the runway with CAT-III technology, enabling aircraft to land during heavy fog conditions common across northern India. IndiGo Airlines will serve as the primary operator when services commence. Akasa Air has committed to offering both domestic and international routes from the location. The pandemic delayed the original September 2024 opening date, pushing completion into the current timeframe.
