Nollywood contract drama heats up, actors warned not to shrink their shine

Niyi Akinmolayan from Anthill Studios is calling out actors who keep signing deals that stop them from hyping other Nigerian movies. The filmmaker gets that people need to pay their bills, but he thinks these non-compete clauses are basically killing the whole industry. He went off on social media, saying Nollywood doesn't have enough cash to be playing these games, and talent should realize they're actually part of what makes the scene grow instead of boxing themselves in.

The whole drama is about how streaming platforms and cinema distributors are sneaking in rules that prevent stars from posting about rival projects for weeks or months around release windows. Akinmolayan straight up told actors they're worth more than whatever short-term bag they're chasing, since the long-term damage to Nollywood isn't worth it when resources are already stretched thin across the board.
