Notepad has changed a lot lately after staying pretty much the same for over 30 years. This simple Windows text editor could hardly do anything except open and save text files until recently. Back in 2022, Microsoft finally added tabs, allowing users to work with several documents at the same time. They also switched Notepad from the old Win32 system to the newer UWP format.
Last year, Microsoft upgraded all Windows accessories, including Notepad spelling and grammar checks. Their newest addition puts Copilot right inside Notepad. You can find a special Copilot button on the main toolbar. Press it, and you'll see choices for improving text—you can rewrite everything, make text longer or shorter, change how it sounds, or even fix up the layout.
