NSB Cash Scam Blows Lid Off Secret Spending

Security expert Richard Kumadoe says he expected the leaked memo from former National Signal Bureau chief Kwabena Adu-Boahene. He told TV3 yesterday that many people already knew about these activities. The document lacks security markings that would make it secret. Kumadoe believes Signal Bureau leaders went beyond their main duties with these spending choices.

He questions why the bureau spent money on election operations. Such costs should come from national security headquarters unless the bureau runs its special projects. The memo claims almost one million cedis went to pay Parliament members who helped pass the Signal Bureau law. Adu-Boahene denies stealing any money. He says these payments helped move the law forward faster.

Records show over five million cedis marked for election operations last December. Another half million paid for generators listed as human security needs. The former director thinks EOCO leader Raymond Archer misunderstands these expenses. He worries these claims harm national security interests.
