Nunez's Napoli move collapses, Liverpool lines up Ekitike

CaughtOffside reports that Darwin Nunez will not join Napoli after negotiations between Liverpool and the Italian club failed. Liverpool demands €70 million for the Uruguayan forward despite his inconsistent performances since arriving from Benfica. The player favored a move to Naples, but discussions reached an impasse over financial terms. Saudi Arabian teams Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr emerge as the most serious contenders for his signature. Barcelona and AC Milan maintain interest without submitting formal bids.

The Saudi clubs appear closest to satisfying Liverpool's valuation as they await the striker's decision on his future. Liverpool has begun pursuing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt as a potential replacement for Nunez. The French forward impressed last season by contributing to 33 goals across all competitions for the German club. Nunez remains available for transfer if suitable offers materialize during the current window. His departure would allow Liverpool to reshape their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
