A registered nurse from Mutare faces fraud charges after authorities say she collected $15,000 from Zimnat Life Assurance by filing insurance claims under the names of three dead people. Shamiso Esinath Nyamundanda, 40, who works at Bamba Rural Health Clinic, appeared before magistrates in Harare, accused of opening policies worth $5,000 each between August 2022 and July 2025 while submitting forged affidavits that identified her as a family member of the deceased.
An assurance manager discovered inconsistencies in the paperwork and alerted police to the scheme. Prosecutors said the full amount had been transferred into her bank account. Nyamundanda received $300 bail and will return to court on December 9 for routine remand proceedings.
