A Bulawayo nurse lost $28,900 after being recruited for what prosecutors describe as a fabricated position with Zimbabwe's national cricket team. Dumisani Mankunzini, 35, allegedly approached the healthcare worker at Mpilo Central Hospital in October 2024, presenting himself as a development manager seeking medical personnel for international tours.
Mankunzini appeared before Magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba at Tredgold Courts and was placed in custody. Prosecutors said the accused collected numerous payments from the victim over several months for cricket certifications, uniforms, visa processing, travel packages and airport fees, all deposited into an account registered to his organization. The woman reported the matter to authorities after Mankunzini became unavailable when questioned about tour details. Police recovered nothing from the alleged scheme.
