Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur returned to Bangladesh on Saturday evening after completing medical treatment in Singapore. Party leaders and activists assembled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's VIP gate to welcome him upon arrival.
Nur spent 12 days at Mount Elizabeth Hospital undergoing tests and treatment following injuries he sustained on Aug. 29 in an alleged police assault near the party's Bijoynagar office. The organization's Central General Secretary, Rashed Khan, was among approximately 50 people injured in the incident.
Medical teams initially treated Nur at Islami Bank Hospital before transferring him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for 18 days of care. He departed for Singapore on Sept. 22 to continue treatment. Party members celebrated his safe return after weeks of concern about his health.
