A former state leader praised the current one for not scrapping his old projects. Reverend Jolly Nyame, ex-governor of Taraba State, complimented Governor Agbu Kefas. He said finishing inherited programs is rare and shows good leadership. Nyame mentioned this during his seventieth birthday interview with the press in Jalingo.
He specifically thanked Kefas for fixing up the state airport and some big markets. The government houses in Jalingo and Abuja also got renovations. These projects started under Nyame's own administration. He did note two projects, a hospital and a stadium, still need similar work. He said he is grateful for the progress made anyway.
Nyame also talked about his own political plans. He wants to run for a Senate seat representing Taraba North. He believes his past experience and name recognition make him the favorite. He called the Senate a place for seasoned elders, not newcomers.
On other topics, he criticized a new tax law as unfamiliar to northern citizens. He said it needs a major public awareness campaign first. He also called the recent mosque bombing in Maiduguri terrible. He stated the country's security problems are too politicized. On a personal note, he said his lowest moments came when people he assisted later betrayed him.
