The legislator said he adopted the independent strategy to secure electoral victory but maintained loyalty to the DPP throughout his campaign. Nyamilandu told reporters his constituents and party leaders anticipated his formal affiliation with the opposition group after the election concluded.

He welcomed presidential commitments to increase maize supplies and designate Nsanje as an emergency area requiring urgent assistance.
