Nyamugasani water project in Kasese set to transform lives, boost economy

Bukhonzo East constituency anticipates reliable clean water access after the December completion of the World Bank-supported Nyamugasani water project. The initiative, now 88 percent finished, will deliver 5,588 cubic meters daily to 57 villages across Kasese district. Officials confirmed that major structures like treatment plants and reservoirs are nearly operational. The system features flood-resistant technology to maintain water quality during heavy rains.

District leaders praised contractor progress while urging residents to protect riverbanks through tree planting. Health workers expect reduced disease rates at facilities like Kyarumba Health Centre II once consistent water arrives. The project also installed improved sanitation facilities in schools and integrated gender equality programs. Over 300 kilometers of pipelines will connect rural homes and businesses, supporting agriculture and local economic growth. Government engineers target full operation by year's end following final equipment installations.
