Oberheim has released a firmware update for the TEO-5 synthesizer, adding Poly Chain functionality to merge two units into a single 10-voice instrument with synchronized controls. The update also introduces ten new arpeggiator modes, including Spiral and Leapfrog patterns that create complex melodic sequences.
A Whiplash timing feature maintains consistent rhythmic cycle lengths regardless of note count, while violet noise generation emphasizes high frequencies for bright sonic textures. Tom Oberheim stated the enhancements align with making the instrument more accessible and inspiring. The firmware is available immediately via Oberheim's website.
