ODM Youth League backs Boyd Were for Kasipul seat after MP's murder

The ODM Youth League endorsed Boyd Were for the Kasipul parliamentary seat following his father's assassination. President John Ketora advocated for the slain legislator's family to receive party nomination during the upcoming by-election. The youth wing pledged mobilization efforts to secure the constituency for Were's relatives. Charles Ong'ondo Were died April 30, 2025, creating the parliamentary vacancy. Ketora emphasized continuity in constituency leadership and development projects.

Party leadership maintains neutrality despite youth pressure for family succession. Governor Gladys Wanga assured transparent candidate selection processes rather than handpicked appointments. Multiple legislators requested party chief Raila Odinga endorse Were's relatives during the May 9, 2025 burial ceremony. Kipkelion West MP Hilary Nyiganet Arap Kosgei suggested political motivations behind the assassination. The representative advocated family endorsement to maintain constituency unity and development momentum.
