Oil lamps light Mandalay pagodas for Thadingyut

Residents in Mandalay Region observed the Full Moon Day of Thadingyut by offering flowers, water, and oil lamps to honor the Buddha and share the merits of their actions. Early that morning, devotees made offerings of flowers, water, oil lamps, and gold foils to the Maha Muni Buddha Image while following health guidelines set by the Pagoda Trustees Board. Pilgrims also gathered at Shwekyeemyin, Kyauktawgyi, Kuthodaw, Kyauksein, Candamuni, and Aungdawmu pagodas to perform good deeds and pray for the well-being of all beings.

Devotees recited Paritta, Pathana Pali verses, and the Dhammacakka Sutta as part of their religious observance. Many also paid respects to parents and elders, praying for peace, good health, and prosperity. In the evening, oil lamps were lit across homes and public spaces in honor of the Buddha. Streets and houses were decorated with paper lanterns and candles in a show of devotion.
