Omokri says Tinubu skipped UNGA to save cash

Reno Omokri criticized people who attacked President Bola Tinubu for missing the 2025 United Nations General Assembly session in New York. The former presidential aide argued that critics possess easily influenced minds when evaluating diplomatic attendance benefits. Omokri pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari participated in all eight UN assemblies during his presidency yet failed to improve the national economy. Nigeria's gross domestic product fell from $510 billion in 2014 to $187.76 billion by 2023 under Buhari's leadership despite consistent UN participation. Omokri emphasized that presidential UN visits can cost between $10 million and $20 million while producing minimal economic returns for the country.
