Senator Okiya Omtatah went to court trying to block a massive health deal between Kenya and America that drops 208 billion shillings into Kenyan health systems over five years. He's saying the whole thing got signed without anyone asking the public or getting Parliament's thumbs-up, which apparently breaks constitutional rules about public participation and legislative approval for treaties.
Omtatah's worried the money's gonna get mismanaged since it's flowing straight through government channels with no real safeguards. Kenya's supposed to match the US funding with an extra 850 million dollars from their own budget, and he thinks that's gonna wreck their finances without proper planning or oversight.
He wants the court to pause everything until they sort out whether this whole arrangement was even legal to begin with.
