One dead, two critically injured in separate road accidents in Machakos County

A fatal collision claimed one life and left two people critically wounded in Machakos County on Sunday morning. The accident occurred when a sedan carrying three passengers veered off the Thika-Garissa highway and crashed into the Yatta canal near Kithimani. Emergency responders transported the two survivors to a local medical facility while recovery teams worked to extract the deceased woman from the submerged vehicle. Police and community members collaborated in the rescue operation as the wreckage remained partially underwater.

This tragedy followed another deadly crash that killed three people Saturday evening along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway interchange in Athi River. A truck driver lost control of his vehicle before colliding with a concrete barrier near Shalom Community Hospital, instantly killing all occupants. Recent weeks have witnessed multiple fatal accidents along these major transportation corridors, prompting public demands for enhanced safety measures. Authorities have promised to install warning signs and speed reduction devices at high-risk locations. Officials continue investigating both incidents while families mourn the mounting casualties from preventable road disasters.
