Paintsil shines as Galaxy collapses

The Los Angeles Galaxy named Joseph Paintsil as their leading scorer for the 2025 Major League Soccer season at the club's annual awards ceremony. The 26-year-old Ghana striker netted 10 league goals and contributed to 12 scores across all competitions despite his team's failure to defend their championship or reach the playoffs.

Paintsil scored three times in one half against Sporting Kansas City to become just the third Galaxy player to record a hat trick after Alejandro Moreno and Robbie Keane. Diego Fagundez received player of the year honors, while Dylan Vanney took academy player recognition, and John Nelson earned best defender.

The Galaxy finished 14th in the Western Conference with 30 points and missed postseason play. Paintsil added one goal in the Concacaf Champions League before heading home for the offseason ahead of preseason training.
