Pakistan's 2025 polio cases climb to eighteen with new Tank victim

Laboratory officials at the National Institute of Health in Islamabad detected another polio infection among children. A ten-month-old male infant from Union Council Mullazai contracted the virus in District Tank within South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication verified this case as the eleventh occurrence across the province during the current year. Pakistan records eighteen total infections for 2025 following this latest confirmation. Health authorities emphasize the persistent danger facing young populations with inadequate immunization rates.

Children remain vulnerable to this preventable illness when vaccination coverage drops below protective levels. The contagious pathogen emerges again wherever community immunity weakens among target populations. Permanent paralysis results from this incurable condition that spreads rapidly through affected areas. Oral polio vaccine administered multiple times provides the sole defense against infection for children under five years. Medical experts urge parents and caregivers to complete all recommended immunization schedules during official campaigns.
