Pant limps out, Jadeja grabs vice-captaincy for Windies Tests

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced that wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant will miss the two-match Test series against West Indies due to a foot injury sustained during the fourth Test in Manchester. The selector expressed optimism about Pant's recovery timeline for the upcoming South Africa series in November. Ravindra Jadeja receives his first Test vice-captaincy appointment, having previously served in this role for limited-overs formats.

Pant continues rehabilitation work at the Center of Excellence while undergoing strength conditioning sessions. Dhruv Jurel and N Jagadeesan serve as specialist wicketkeepers for the West Indies series. The matches form part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle, with India currently occupying third position on the table. The series begins in Ahmedabad before moving to Delhi on October 10.
