Pasir Gudang road still faces light woes

The Pasir Gudang Highway has been removed from a list of Malaysia's ten worst roads following significant upgrades. Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh, the chairman of the State Public Works, Transport, and Infrastructure Committee, confirmed this improvement but acknowledged ongoing problems with non-functioning streetlights along the route.

He explained that maintenance is divided between the Public Works Department and the Johor Bahru City Council. The city council is currently executing repair work on a section where 167 lights are faulty, a project valued at one million ringgit.

A further initiative to replace all 1,308 streetlights with smart LED units is also planned for next year at an estimated cost of six million ringgit. An annual maintenance contractor will be appointed to manage the new lighting system.
