Government officials warned builders they must fix problems at a new Malaysian hospital. The Public Works Department chief spoke during a ceremony transferring the Pasir Gudang Hospital to health officials. Contractors face ongoing duties even after completing the medical facility on June 12. They must repair any issues that arise during the warranty period. The health ministry received full control of the building last month.
The hospital project cost 375.5 million ringgit and covered more than 20 hectares of land. Construction began in September 2020 with plans to finish by September 2023. Workers faced delays because of the pandemic that disrupted building schedules. Officials issued completion certificates in May and June of this year. The facility used environmentally friendly building methods.
Local residents will benefit from 304 hospital beds and 14 medical specialties. The new facility should reduce patient crowds at two other area hospitals. Builders constructed a main hospital building along with housing for staff and nurses. The project created 1,507 car parking spaces and 320 motorcycle spots. Designers added 32 special parking areas for people with disabilities.
