Police arrested Rev. Pastor Prince Bassey Ajah from Wells of Salvation church on child trafficking charges. FCT officers also detained two accomplices Nancy Atoo and Deaconess Vera Duru during the investigation. Josephine Adeh from FCT Police Public Relations announced the arrests through an official statement Saturday. Wazobia Motor Park officials at Gwagwalada reported suspicious activity when they spotted someone trying to travel with a young child. Emergency response teams rushed to the scene and caught the suspect before he could leave the area.
Officers arrested Isreal Ajah as he attempted boarding a vehicle to Owerri with a seven-year-old boy named Muktar Hassan. The arrested man received the child from his elder brother Pastor Prince Ajah who leads the religious organization. Police discovered that traffickers planned to sell Muktar for 1.2 million naira through connections made by Deaconess Vera Duru. Investigators searched Nancy Atoo's home and found another victim called Mercy who appeared to be four years old. The rescued girl had no identification documents and police could not locate her real family.
Both children faced being sold to buyers waiting at Owerri according to police findings. Officers returned Muktar Hassan to his biological family after completing their rescue operation. Mercy remains under protective care until authorities can trace her parents or guardians. The investigation continues as police work to uncover more details about the trafficking network.
