Patience Namadingo Dumps Ambulance Fund for School

Musician Patience Namadingo changed his charity plans from fixing broken ambulances at Mangochi District Hospital to building a classroom at Wataka Primary School in Machinga. He announced this shift on Tuesday on Facebook after learning about the school's problems. The Catholic Church started the school in 1934, but one block was removed because it might fall.

Children have been studying outside under mango trees, where the weather often stops their lessons. Namadingo felt moved when he heard their story about needing better places to learn. He sees hope despite these hard times for the students. Construction starts next week, with Namadingo visiting on Wednesday to talk with local people about helping with the project.

More than eight villages send their children to Wataka for education. Namadingo believes all students should have good classrooms where they can focus on learning. He compared proper education to a warm blanket that protects someone from the cold. The musician wants his money to create safe spaces where students can grow their minds without worrying about rain or sun beating down on them during class time.
