People's Military Service Training 18 kicks off nationwide

Myanmar military commands launched their 18th round of civilian conscription training on Wednesday with ceremonies attended by regional leaders and defense officials. The Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, state chief ministers, and base commanders watched as new recruits received cash payments and supplies before beginning their service. Parliament passed the mandatory military service law in February 2024 to protect national unity and sovereignty through organized defense training. Graduates from earlier classes work in armed forces units across the country.
