Persad-Bissessar limits fetes at major T&T venues

Trinidad and Tobago will prohibit entertainment events at Hasely Crawford Stadium and Jean Pierre Complex except during a limited carnival window, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced. The restriction mirrors an earlier ban imposed on Brian Lara Cricket Academy and permits exceptions only between the Thursday preceding carnival celebrations through the following Saturday.

Ministry of Sport venues hosting approved gatherings must observe operating hours between noon and 10 p.m. under the new regulations. Persad-Bissessar has directed the National Carnival Commission to engage acoustic specialists for sound system designs that reduce disturbances affecting residential areas.

The measures address persistent complaints regarding excessive volume levels and aim to balance cultural programming with community welfare. Government officials characterized the policy as fostering responsible event management while preserving traditions central to national identity.
