Phone deal ends with bottle drama

Muhammad Ndow was convicted of assault in the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court after admitting he stabbed a man during a dispute over a mobile phone sale. The incident occurred at Serrekunda City Pop when Ndow attacked Ousman Camara with a broken bottle, injuring his left hand. The confrontation reportedly began after a negotiated sale for the phone fell apart, leading to a physical altercation.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Sallah M’bai, Ndow pleaded guilty and asked for leniency, stating he had acted without intent to cause serious harm. The magistrate acknowledged his early plea and status as a first-time offender but emphasized the offense's severity.

The court mandated that Ndow pay a fine of 50,000 dalasis, with a one-month prison sentence for non-payment. He was also ordered to provide 5,000 dalasis in compensation to the victim, facing an additional 14 days imprisonment if he fails to pay.
