Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Wednesday that India’s rapid progress in financial technology reflects the nation’s growing global stature under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the Global Fintech Fest 2025, he stated that fintech has become an integral part of daily life in India, as the country surpasses one billion internet users, with even street vendors and temples utilizing digital payments.
Goyal credited the prime minister’s vision for driving India’s technological transformation and said the country is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy. He added that 1.4 billion citizens are moving forward with the shared goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.
The minister said global partners trust India for high-quality talent, goods, and timely delivery, noting that the country has evolved from a participant in global trade to a leader shaping the fintech landscape. He highlighted India’s success in developing digital public infrastructure, an indigenous 4G stack, and one of the fastest 5G rollouts worldwide.
