Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Tuesday that India's self-reliance initiative aims to create durable supply chains capable of resisting global disruptions and preventing trade from becoming a weapon. Speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry event, he described the strategy through three principles: self-reliance to secure supply networks, self-confidence to pursue ambitious objectives, and self-protection to defend national interests. The minister emphasized that successful partnerships rely on technology, trust, trade, talent, and tradition.
Goyal praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for advancing technology-based governance and developing three industrial corridors at Krishnapatnam, Orvakal, and Kopparthy. He noted that recent goods and services tax reforms will simplify procedures, reduce consumer costs, and accelerate consumption-driven economic expansion. The minister expressed optimism about strengthening international collaborations at the upcoming Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam in November.
