Two dudes in Plumtree just got busted for using fake cash at a bar. Taridzai Oscar Mpofu and Cardwell Chitono, both twenty-five, face fraud charges after allegedly buying beer with a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill. They appeared before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who sent them to jail until January seventh.
The prosecution says the whole thing went down at Chicken King Night Club. The men handed the fake note, bearing serial number 61907957H, to bartender Angella Sola. In exchange, she gave them three bottles of Savanna cider and two Chiller Punch beers.
Sola realized the currency was phony shortly after they walked away from the counter. Club management got involved immediately, contacting the police. That report led directly to the arrest of both suspects.
