Poe debuts group chats for 200 users across models

Quora has released group chat functionality on its Poe artificial intelligence platform, enabling as many as 200 participants to collaborate using more than 200 AI models within shared conversations. The rollout follows OpenAI's limited pilot of similar features for ChatGPT in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan, marking a shift toward collaborative AI workspaces rather than individual chatbot interactions.

Poe users can combine text, image, video and audio generation models, including Claude 4.5 Sonnet, GPT-5.1, Sora 2 Pro and Eleven Labs v3 within single threads that synchronize across devices. Quora positions the platform for applications ranging from family trip planning using Gemini 2.5 alongside o3 Deep Research to creative teams developing mood boards through various image generators.

The company spent six months developing the feature and plans ongoing improvements based on user feedback, betting that model-agnostic collaborative experiences will drive adoption as competition intensifies with OpenAI's parallel development efforts.
